Katanga Junior is from Tanzania, East Africa. Growing up with musicians in his family meant music naturally became part of his life – influences ranged from African rumba to reggae and later hip hop. From age 16 he began playing drums in reggae and rumba bands in Tanzania, then moved onto guitar and rapping in a ‘ragga’ Swahili style that you may have seen at one of his many local performances.

When Junior and Darcy met earlier in 2020 at a jam session in town they bonded through a love of reggae, hip-hop and dancehall music and went on to to perform collaboratively at venues around town. Since then D-Day and Junior have been writing and recording their first Ep at RedHouse Studios in Eastside.
